The 10" Big Blue water filter is intended for whole house or industrial applications where high flow rates are required - offering up to five times the surface area over regular slim line cartridges.

Two sediment cartridge options are available - Spun and Pleated.

Spun cartridges are usually used for economy, and in domestic applications with light and very fine sediment are ideal, usually lasting about six months each. Pleated cartridges are slightly more expensive, but have the benefit of being washable - This means for areas with heavy sediment you can remove the filter periodically, wash it down, and then reinstall it - However, this procedure can only be done a few times before the fabric wear will eventually lead to it having to be replaced.

In general for applications with light sediment on mains water, then Spun cartridges are preferred. For heavy sediment and well water, pleated filters probably are a better choice.

Installation - basically it needs plumbing in somewhere close to where your water enters the property if you are going to filter your entire house. Typically, it can be installed using common compression fittings to 15mm or 22mm pipework without too much trouble, however, if you have no plumbing experience you may require assistance for the initial installation (changing cartridges is very simple and can be done yourself). The system should, in the vast majority of cases, take between 30 to 60 minutes to install in case you need to obtain a quotation from a local plumber.

We live n a boat with a 2700 litre tank fed from a well. There is often considerable sediment in the water, which is noticeably coloured. Fitting the Big Blue immediately solved this problem, and our water was free of sediment. The big Blue is part of our three stage water treatment process: dose the incoming water with chlorine tablets, filter it for sediment via the Big Blue, and remove the chlorine at our main drinking water tap with a carbon filter. This is working very well, and we are no longer buying bottled water. The filter is placed between the pumps and the taps (in our engine room). Fitting the Big Blue was mostly easy. The bracket provided, which takes M12 bolts, is excellent, and easy to fit, giving a very solid attachment. I could not use all four holes due ot an electric cable, but three bolts were more than adequate. The inlet and outlet are clearly marked. They are 1" BSP plastic threads in our model. This is larger than we needed, as we use 15mm pipe, so we had to get fairly expensive adapters. Unfortunately, filters which are easier to use with 15mm pipe are too small for a three-person houselhold (or boathold?), so we had to accept this feature. The Big Blue is an excellent addition to our boat.

Flawless order and delivery process. Product as described. Previous reviewers comments about the need for the bracket etc completely justified as this is a bulky and heavy object requiring sound support. Product could be improved by providing a filter view glass so that required filter changes could be judged more readily.

Pozzani Comment --------------------- Customer had fitted Parallel fittings first which stripped the threads. Boxes and instructions are clearly marked to use tapered threads. Once you fit a parallel fitting you will be unable to fit a taper since it will completely strip threads - This is common to all Big Blue filter heads. Our tech department offered to inspect and replace the part which was refused by the customer. Customer Review -------------------- I used tapered fittings on the filter as instructed but the threads are awfull and just kept shearing! Phoned pozzani for info/help and got none as they had their sale and money so they are fine! Went and bought another filter from very helpfull company that fitted a dream and works great so although i am £65 out of pocket thanks to pozzani, at least the job is done!!

This is the industry standard Big Blue Housing which can be supplied with an optional bracket. The bracket is substantial and when ordered with the Big Blue Housing, is supplied fitted. The bracket holes for wall mounting will take an M12 bolt.
