I bought this system before I knew that it wastes 85% of the water that goes through. In an age where water is a valuable commodity these \"Reverse Osmosis\" systems should be banned.
Instead the company has some really good systems for cleaning water.

In fairness our website quotes a 15 to 20% recovery rate as do our brochures, which is pretty standard amongst domestic RO units. Reverse Osmosis technology is the only way to produce very pure water in your own home, and basically like with all things (from cars to computers!) there are running costs involved. In terms of wasting water though you have to be fair - it is only going down the drain (which goes back to your water company in theory!), and we do state that rejected water can be used for grey water applications such as garden watering.
In terms of figures if you drink 6 litres of RO water per day (an average 3/4 person house) you will lose about 24 litres of water to drain. That is 8700 litres per annum (i.e 8.7 cubic metres on your bill) which equates to about £13 worth of additional metered charges.
As above - it\'s a simple (and cheap) job to collect this water in a water butt for the garden, and being mineral rich it is ideal for most plants/lawns.
