The Franke Triflow and Uniflow systems are designed to remove bad tastes and odours from your drinking water.  Whilst most people are happy with this, some people in hard water areas would prefer to remove the scale forming minerals that cause scum and scale in tea and other hot drinks.

The way to solve this problem is to keep your existing Franke housing in place, and add a second housing with a special scale removal cartridge.  We are not aware of anything manufactured by Franke that does this effectively, so we have designed a simple upgrade kit for this very purpose.

Our HM upgrade is basically our standard IX600 housing, our HM scum and scale cartridge, a mounting bracket for our additional housing and the correct connectors (3/8" tubing) so that it will connect to your Franke system.  The new housing fits IN FRONT OF your existing Franke housing, so water first passes through our 'pod' and then into the Franke one.  

The HM600 cartridge needs to be replaced on exhaustion which is entirely dependent on the hardness of your water and the amount you use.  We typically find that it lasts 3 to 6 months for most customers, however, if you live in an area with excessively hard water or consume lots of drinking water, its life may well be reduced.
