The price shown here is for a waterblock device, reset device, pressure reduce and ball valve.
The Water-Block(tm) Flood prevention device is desgined for washing machines, dishwashers, water coolers etc as a means to prevent flooding in the event of failiure of the machine.
In a domestic situation this could be an event such as a split drum on a washing machine, but more commonly we supply these for water coolers, where risks are usually physical (i.e. someone knocking it over or vandalising the equipment). If your machine is connected at regular mains flow, you would probably be looking at losing 11 to 15litres per minute if a flood occurred, which in a domestic or office situation could cause a devastating flood.
The water block measures the flow of water being drawn by the device in one 'burst'. Back to a washing machine, filling the drum will usually draw around 27 litres of water continuously - but it would be safe to say if it drew more than 35 then there is probably a fault (i.e a leak). Most coolers will only draw five litres an hour at most, so again, a flow of more than a few litres continousuly may well indicate a problem. If the volume of water is higher than the burst threshold then the waterblock shuts off the water supply.
Burst thresholds are user adjustable so the device can be tailored to suit anything from low volume water filters to higher volume dishwashers etc. The nature of this device is such that if a flood does occur then the maximum amount of flood water produced will be equal to the water blocks set threshold i.e. rigged up to a washing machine for example you might be looking at a potential leak of around 30 litres, to a cooler maybe 6 or 7 - both of these situations are obviously favourable to several hundred or thousand litres - which could easily occur on a night time flood for example.
In some commercial environments insurance companies may insist that flood prevention measures are installed to minimise the risk of water damage from certain types of equipment (coolers, vending machines etc). This device will meet that specification.
Our water block kits include the water block device itself, reset device (you need these to allow flow to resume again once the problem has been resolved) and a pressure reducing set and a ball valve. It is easily plumbed with 3/4" BSP fittings in and out.
