The Amana UKF9001AXX is the new replacement for the UKF8001AXX - which is being phased in throughout 2008. If you have an Admiral, Maytag or Amana fridge that uses the Puriclean II then this cartridge will serve as a direct replacement, and, from the end of this year it will be the only cartridge readily available for these models.

The UKF9001AXX improves on the previous specification by removing additional contaminents such as MTBE (derived from Petroleum contamination), and more dissovled organics (and organic compounds).

In terms of fitting this cartridge usually goes inside the fridge compartment itself in a small drop-down compartment on the right hand side.

Presently we will continue to offer the UKF8001AXX to customers whilst we can still obtain availability, and the UKF9001AXX is simply here for people who wish to make the change earlier OR people with newer Admiral/Amana fridges (purchased in 2008) that will probably find their fridge is actually supplied with this version.
